A Movie Geeks Dream Come True

I'M ON IMDB !!!!!!!

For a quick peek just click here to see The Kilted Travel Agent.

Wow!! It's a very surreal thing. Like the title states: it's a movie geeks dream come true.

It really all started about this time 3 years ago. My wife had received a call from a highschool friend of ours.

He was working as a news director at a local news television station and some coworkers decided that they needed to do something to try and get out of local news. Well maybe they were bored. Who knows really.

So our friend calls the Paisley and ask her if she would like to costume a local indie film. Well one thing led to another and the next thing we knew we were both involved and sitting in on a casting session and getting ready to make a film. The end result after 5 months of filming every Friday evening (after work) until Sunday afternoons, was The Book of Zombie.

Yes you heard correct. The Book of Zombie. My first forray into the film industry is a zombie flick. To see the movie trailer just visit the official website.

Marcel Banks and me horsing around with the fogger and machetes on the set during a break.

I'm glad to have been involved in the making of this film. During the filming I finally came to the realisation of what I wanted out of life. I want to make films. That is what I'm going to do. The little kilted ones are just a few short years to being released into the wild and I plan on going back to school and getting a communications degree and get out of the travel industry and out of this state and get work in the industry.

I'm not picky. Major studio or indie film maker. I'm good with that. In the mean time I'm looking forward and looking to get involved with new projects that I can get involved with between now and the end result.

Taking a break in between shots on the set of the The Book of Zombie. That prop pistol was pretty choice.

So in the next few weeks there will be a final copy of the film being submitted to SIFF and a copy will also be submitted to STIFF. Hopefully it's accepted by one or both.

I"m really excited to be moving into the next stage of my life and really excited that I've actually figured out what I want to do when I grow up!! It's perfect for me.

The Jake Files: A Day at the Spa

I'll just come right out and say it. Jake is shiny again. After 24 years and who knows how many owners and some obvious neglect, Jake's paint has been partially restored.

He will need new paint. That goes without saying. He just has a reprieve on when it will need to happen.

I went Saturday and picked up some Meguiars Ultimate Compound and some microfibre pads and a bag of baby diaper rags. $22 worth of materials and 3 hours of labour and Jake's exterior was given a new lease on life.

Here is a long shot of the front end. You can see that the left side of the bonnet is red and full of colour while the right side has yet to be treated and is still oxidised and hazy after 24 years.

For a bit of a background on me, prior to being a travel agent I spent 8 years in automotive. Dealerships primarily. VW and Saab specifically. Parts mostly, but there was a time when I was a lot lizzard for a brief moment in time and did detail work.

So naturally I have an appreciation for chemicals that make a car feel as if it's had a day at the spa. The Mequirars is one such product that is available to everyone and is not a dealership secret.

Clearly from the photo above it does what it says it will. After all I'm barely into this car for 6 months and I've got quite a bit of change in it, so it has to look as good as it runs now.

If only Hank Moody would care for his beloved 911 in this manner instead of letting it suffer from his narcissitic, sex fueled and often nefarious life. He might find that even for as much pussy as he gets he could get more if his Stuttgart Steed was clean.

Hank Moody's 911 Cabriolet from Showtime's Californication. It has seen better days. So did mine. There is hope, Hank!!

I promise I will post some cleaner photos of Jake at a later date when I have the time to snap a few, but for now: Jake after a 3 hour compound rub.

You have to admit, for bone stock, that is one sexy looking car.

Storage Unit Declutter; Bath Time for Bon Jovi

So the blog has still been hit or miss so far this year. I have written on more of a regular basis than I did last year, but it's still lacking by the terms I had set for myself.

So this past weekend was a busy one. No kids at home this weekend. Thank their mom for that one. Oh well. It was actually nice to have an extra weekend without them. They are at that age where a roll of duct tape across their mouths would be a good idea. They are 15 (16 next month!) and 14. One is emo.

So this past weekend with no one to run after and keep tabs on the Paisley and I were out in our on site storage unit clearing out more clutter from our lives. At our condo every one has an on site storage unit. It's nice to have and not have to rent one somewhere. They vary in size. They were'nt all built equally. Some are bigger than ours and some are smaller. Ours is ok. It's 9'x9' and has a ceiling clearance of about 10'-11'.

There was a time where it just had "stuff" in it. Stuff that had accumulated during the relationship to the first Ms. Kilted One. Some of it she took with her. Good riddence. To both.

So then the wonderful Paisley has lots of stuff. So much that at one point the storage was filled floor to ceiling and right up to the door. Literally. Those days are gone. Due to some purging and some natural disasters (a neighbours water tank leaked into our storage at one point) we've gotten rid of quite a bit.

And here is the (nearly) final results of our labour!! You can actually see the floor. The only thing on the floor is a hand truck, a table with some train track and my R2-D2 soda cooler. There are still more things to get rid of, but they are sitting on the shelf in their own containers and can be sold on eBay in a timely manner now that we can find/get to them easier. This makes me smile. I'm hoping to actually be able to clear up another 1/3 of this space and be able to say that I have room to spare.

The poor little guy sitting in the shower and behaving.

The day started out however with our little Bon Jovi getting a bath. Poor little bugger. He's so good about it. He really needed it done this time too. We recently had to have his anal glands expressed and that really smells and it made him smell.

Funny that we've had him for about 3 years now and we've never had to have that done until now.

There was also a run to our local Goodwill to donate said items that have been purged from our lives for good. I also had a friend that was willing to take a filing cabinet that I've been using as a bed side table for a few years now.

We have accomplished quite a bit in just a few short weeks, but there is still some more to be done. In a few weeks we take a trip down to Oregon to get away for our 6 year anniversary, but when we come back we will be taking on the storage closet on our back porch. That one is getting a bit crowede and could use some clearing out.

Keep watching for updates on the progress.
